Meet Your Fellow Municipal Members
Municipal members represent an incredibly diverse population. As a local member in East Greenwich, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, or South Kingstown, you may:
- provide administrative support in police stations, municipal utilities, municipal courts, and highway departments
- facilitate municipal planning and zoning
- preserve historical districts and Rhode Island's heritage (and inspect the work, too)
- work on the water as a harbormaster, or in the laboratory with water samples, as a chemist or microbiologist
- ensure the safety of public sanitation
- disseminate requests for proposals (RFPs) and unseal the bids looking for a winner
- detail property taxes in your division of taxation
- collect water bill payments
- and, respond to any question from the public that might arise
Department of Health
Likewise, at the DOH you may work in public health education, community health equity, licensing and records, environmental health, policy and regulation, infectious disease control, emergency preparedness, laboratory services, or the medical examiner's office.
Middletown Public Library
As one of the NEARI members at the Middletown library, you are keeping the institution alive and vibrant with a multitude of engaging community programs.
