When is the right time to organize?

Right now! At its core, organizing is people coming together to collectively create the change they want to achieve, joining together to work toward common goals. This is what we do together as a union all the time.

Because we can and should work together to make change and grow our union all year, NEARI has a framework that gives key strategies to implement during the four seasons of a typical school year.

Back-To-School

As educators begin a new school year, we have new opportunities to engage new hires and reengage members to remind them of the power of coming together through their union.

Winter Worksite

Between Back-to-School ending and April, we engage in Winter Worksite organizing to focus on building our union’s power with a focus on member voice campaigns to make change at our worksites and in our locals, as well as statewide policy organizing.

Early Enrollment

Starting on April 1st until August 31st, we offer the Early Enrollment Membership Program to support your spring or summer membership organizing efforts by inviting First-Time Active members and Aspiring Educators to experience the transformative impact of being part of the Association for no immediate cost. This is a great opportunity to engage new hires who haven’t been a member before that didn’t join in the fall that you’ve built a relationship with or who started work more recently.

Education Summer

During Education Summer (Ed Summer), we focus on planning and advancing organizing campaigns, membership growth & recruitment, and building & strengthening local capacity & structures.
