ELECTIONS NOTICE
At the annual NEARI Delegate Assembly meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025, delegates will vote for NEARI NEA Director.
As a top decision-making body, the NEA Board of Directors includes at least one director from each state affiliate, as well as representatives from retired members, aspiring educators, at-large representatives of ethnic minorities, administrators, teachers in higher ed, and active members employed in ESP positions.
Role/Responsibilities of an NEA Director
DECLARATION OF INTENT by March 1, 2025
Candidates must declare their intentions in writing to Executive Director Mary Barden. Declarations may be emailed to Mary directly at [email protected], hand delivered, or mailed to NEARI offices at her attention at: 99 Bald Hill Rd. Cranston, RI 02920
If, after nominations close, there are no declared candidates for a particular office, a member or members may be nominated from the floor of the Delegate Assembly.
STATEMENTS & PHOTOS by March 1, 2025
Candidates may submit a statement and/or photograph for public posting and email distribution if submitted to the Elections Committee by March 1.
MAILINGS by April 1, 2025
NEARI will mail to each delegate a brochure, no larger than 8x11 inches, for each candidate. Sufficient copies for all delegates must be received by the Elections Committee by April 1 of the election year. Said brochure can contain whatever election-related information the candidate desires and will be mailed to all delegates at the candidate’s expense.
Candidates will be provided, upon request to the Elections Committee, one set of mailing labels of members of the Delegate Assembly.
CAMPAIGN EXPENSES
No portion of dues money collected at the state, local, or national level shall be used to promote the candidacy of any individual.
