CCRI part-time faculty votes to unionize with NEARI
In a robust show of support, adjunct faculty members at the Community College of Rhode Island have voted to form their own union in affiliation with NEARI. The election, conducted over April 2-3 by the RI Labor Relations Board, adds more than 430 new members.
NEARI calls for an end to student testing
Local association leaders of NEARI voted unanimously Thursday, March 20, to take a firm stance on the use of high-stakes testing and the corresponding national curriculum. More than 100 representatives were present for the vote at the organization’s Delegate Assembly, which meets three times a year. Specifically, they called for the following three actions:
